Requirements for Visiting the United States

When applying to visit the U.S., the applicant must satisfy these requirements:

  • Visit must be temporary
  • Valid passport
  • Agrees to leave at designated time
  • Usually must have a foreign residence
  • Proof of financial support
  • Must be admissible or have obtained a waiver of inadmissibility

Most difficulties with obtaining a visitor's visa stem from inadmissibility. A person may be deemed inadmissible for having a criminal record, past immigration violations, health issues, association with terrorist organizations or the likelihood of becoming a public charge. We can help with obtaining a visa, expediting a visa, and overcoming inadmissibility issues.

Student Visa

Students are welcome in the U.S. Your first step is to obtain acceptance by a school which is Student and Exchange Visitor Program-Approved. Students attending approved academic schools will need an F student visa. For attendance at a vocational school you will need an M visa. If your prime reason for visiting is tourism but you do want to take a short course of study involving less than 18 hours per week, you may do so on a visitor B visa.

We help clients deal with all manner of issues relating to visas. Our legal team is accomplished in communication with immigration officials to expedite approval of visas. When needed we are quick to take appropriate legal action.
