Pedro Leonardo Espinosa is an attorney admitted to practice law in Mexico with extensive experience in immigration matters and international law. He joined Daniel Shanfield Immigration Defense, PC in 2023 and currently serves as the firm’s Legal Services Coordinator. With more than two decades of legal, consular, and immigration-related experience, Pedro supports individuals and families navigating complex immigration matters. His background in Mexican and international law enables him to approach each case with careful attention to legal detail, cultural considerations, and the practical challenges clients often face when their immigration matters involve more than one country. His experience and knowledge play an important role in the comprehensive services offered by Daniel Shanfield Immigration Defense, PC.

Pedro’s commitment to immigrant communities was shaped through his public service with the Government of Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including his work with the Consulates General of Mexico in Atlanta, Georgia, and San Jose, California, where he served as Consul for Legal Affairs and Head of the Legal Affairs Department. During his tenure, he oversaw legal protection and consular assistance programs serving Mexican nationals facing civil, criminal, labor, immigration, and administrative legal matters throughout Northern California. He also collaborated closely with community organizations and government agencies, including the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the San Jose Police Department, the Santa Clara and San Benito Counties Building and Construction Trades Council, and the Center for Employment Training (CET) in San Jose, helping develop programs designed to support and protect immigrant communities.

Before joining Daniel Shanfield Immigration Defense, PC, Pedro worked with respected immigration law firms in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has also served as a consultant and expert witness for the Federal Public Defender’s Office in San Jose in extradition matters involving Mexico and the United States.

Pedro graduated with honors from Universidad Latina in Mexico City and earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM). His academic work included a thesis on consular protection for fellow nationals sentenced to the death penalty. He also completed studies through the Georgia Hispanic Bar Association’s Latino Law School and graduated from the San Jose Police Department Citizens’ Police Academy.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Pedro is recognized for his clear communication, cultural competency, and compassionate client service.
